Rod Aycox to Explore the Use of Fuel Cell Technology with Atlantic Fuel Cell, LLC

Michael Faraday (1791-1867) first discovered that by passing an electric current through a liquid (such as water) gasses were produced that were the basic constituents of the liquid. An English lawyer and sometime physicist named William Robert Grove (1811- 1896) wondered whether the reverse might be made to happen. If the two gasses (hydrogen and oxygen) could be combined back together maybe an electric current could be generated. In a letter to Faraday in 1842 he described an arrangement he had used to produce electric current from a chemical reaction and called it the "gas battery". We now know of it as the fuel cell. The fuel cell languished for about 110 years until a very efficient power source was needed by NASA to power space craft in the late 1950's.

Atlantic Fuel Cell, LLC, officially formed in 2003, is pioneering the expansion of this amazing technology. The Atlantic Fuel Cell HFC1201 is one of the first available low cost completely assembled and tested single cell PEM direct hydrogen fuel cells. Multiple HFC1201 cells can be wired in series for higher output voltages.

Atlantic specializes in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells which are suitable for the widest range of applications from sub-watt fuel cells for cell phones to multi kilo-Watt machines for powering things such as telecom cell sites, homes and businesses.

Rod Aycox is working with Atlanta Fuel Cell, LLC with plans to use the environmentally friendly technology in his businesses. "I am very excited about the possibilities of this new cost and energy efficient technology," said Mr. Aycox. "More importantly, fuel cells don't require disposal and run on water, which is better for the environment."
